I love the glamour; the travel, the people, and the variation that hospitality offers. You have an opportunity to make a difference to guests and their experience, but also to staff and their work satisfaction, which is extremely rewarding.
Tell us something you wish you had been told at the start of your career?
That it is a very demanding industry, and to succeed and thrive you have to make sacrifices. It’s something difficult for a teenager to comprehend, but in the long term, the negative aspects turn into benefits.
What do you do in your spare time?
What spare time?! Only kidding. I love travelling, going out, cooking and sports. I have a season ticket for Spurs, but that’s less enjoyable these days.
What’s your favourite restaurant or group of restaurants (besides your current one)?
I love counter dining; so sitting at our own counter in Landau, having a snack and glass of wine I always look forward to. Boca Di Lupo and Barrafina are top of my list.
What would you be doing if you weren’t in hotels? Mayor of a large city. I can think of no better job than to rebuild a city, and make other lives better, even though everyone would blame you when the subway breaks down! What motivates you?
