There is a famous Chinese proverb which states “The journey of ONE THOUSAND miles begins with ONE STEP”. But many times we fail to launch out on our own, fail to grab hold of an opportunity that is right in front of us. We can hesitate just for a moment, we can become trapped in our past failures like the proverbial “deer in the headlights of an oncoming vehicle”, and in that moment opportunity can slip away, just as that deer’s future has slipped away due to that moment of hesitation. Fears of past failures, and our fears of failing in the future, leave us stuck and trapped in our past. Most of us have been stuck in dead end jobs, just barely getting by financially, but we still hang on to them because we are afraid to let go of the weekly paycheck, we consider it to be a sure thing. Live your life, take the plunge, follow your pathway to success in your life and in your career, take that first step, then take another, and another, and another, and another. Then take a moment to look back at how far you’ve traveled.
Whether you choose the road less traveled, or to venture onto one of life’s many superhighways, enjoy each step. Learn from your missteps, mistakes, missed turns; but on the road you’ll run into those missed opportunities that will make your life richer, fuller, and far more rewarding. Take that First Step, take it TODAY!
